What the day includes
- The old city temples at a walking pace, with someone to explain what you are looking at
- A wooden viharn with its tiered roof, and the courtyard around it
- The long view over the whole city from the mountain above it, late in the day
- The old walls, a city gate and the moat, seen in the last of the evening light
How the day runs
Morning
Start in the old city while the light is soft and the temples are still quiet, at the chedi and the wooden viharn.
Late morning
Walk the lanes inside the walls, stopping wherever there is something worth looking at properly: a brass bell, roof tiles, flowers left on a tray.
Midday
A break out of the sun before the day moves out of the old city.
Afternoon
Up to the mountain viewpoint, where you can see how the whole city is laid out below.
Evening
Finish along the moat and the old city gate, when the light goes low and the brick holds the last of the sun.
Pace
A walking day, taken slowly and mostly on flat ground inside the old city, with shade and somewhere to sit between stops.

If you need to cancel
If your trip is arranged and you then need to cancel, these are the terms we work to: cancel 30 days or more before the first day and you are refunded in full; cancel between 15 and 29 days before and you are refunded at least half. The full terms are written into the quote you receive, so you read them before you agree to anything. No payment is taken on this website, so there is nothing to pay here and nothing to refund until a deposit has been arranged with our team directly.
Who you will be with
The people you spend the day with, the driver, the guide, the cook whose kitchen you are in, are chosen by us for that day. We plan each day with them directly, and we tell you who you will be with before you agree to anything. One person on our team stays your point of contact from the first message to the end of the trip. If something on the day is not what we described, tell us. The arrangement is ours to put right, not yours.
